Paying heed to feedback from audience and critics that ‘24‘ was bit lengthy, makers of the Suriya starrer movie have come forward to delete some scenes in the second half.

“From Sunday, the film’s length has been cut by 10 minutes. It is now more crisp and racy,” sources said. The movie, which hit the screens on Friday, took a good opening and the first day collections, if trade sources are to be believed, is Rs 5.5 crore in Tamil Nadu alone.

A sci-fi thriller written and directed by Vikram Kumar, ’24’ is based on the concept of time-travel. It stars Suriya in triple roles, with actresses Samantha and Nithya Menen playing the female leads.

Produced by 2D Entertainment and released by Studio Green, the film has cinematography by S Tirru. The soundtrack and background score are composed by the Oscar winning A R Rahman, with lyrics by Vairamuthu and Madhan Karky.

MiruthanJayam Ravi starrer ‘Miruthan’ has emerged the only Tamil film after Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Enthiran’ to be screened at Fantasia International Film Festival 2016 in Canada.

Sharing this information on his microblogging page, Ravi posted: “After Enthiran, Miruthan is the 2nd Tamil film to be selected at the Fantasia International Film Fest 2016 Canada. Proud and ecstatic!”

Meanwhile, director Shakti Sounder Rajan and Ravi have come together once again after ‘Miruthan’. Shooting for their new flick will commence soon, after the actor completes ‘Bogan’ directed by Lakshman, sources inform.

‘Miruthan’, which hit the screens in February this year, is a science fiction zombie thriller written and directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan. While Jayam Ravi played a police officer who is on a fight with zombies, Lakshmi Menon played a doctor who is on a mission to find medicine to cure zombies.

Popular Tollywood star Jagapathi Babu, who is playing the villain of Vijay and Vishal in their respective upcoming films, recalls that he was a ‘rowdy’ during his college days in Chennai.

“I did my graduation in a Chennai college and I was a rowdy then. I would involve in all sorts of fights,” he laughs, adding that his marriage also took place in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

“Hence, I am happy that I now receive interesting offers from Kollywood,” says Jagapathi, who crossed swords with Superstar Rajinikanth in ‘Lingaa’.

Jagapathi would be Vijay’s antagonist in his 60th film to be directed by Bharathan. In ‘Kaththi Sandai’ directed by Suraj, Vishal and Jagapathi will be the hero and villain, respectively. The baddie role has more scope in the flick, shooting for which would start soon, said sources.

Vijay-SethupathiVijay Sethupathi has completed shooting and dubbing for ‘Dharma Durai’, his upcoming film directed by Seenu Ramasamy. The actor is said to be playing a doctor in this flick, while Tamannah a teacher.

“Dharmadurai film dubbing completed heart full thanks my selvan, makkal selvan Vijay Sethupathi, memorable day”, Seenu Ramasamy wrote on his online page.

Meanwhile, the ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ actor, who was last seen in ‘Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum’, has started working on ‘Rekka’ directed by Sivagnanam, who made ‘Vaa Deal’.

‘Rekka’ will see the talented actor teaming up with Lakshmi Menon, who has signed this after the upcoming ‘Miruthan’ with Jayam Ravi.

Touted to be an action entertainer with ample doses of romance, the film will be produced by B Ganesh of ‘Orange Mittai’ fame.

Bharath has recently shot for the climax of his upcoming ‘Ennodu Vilayadu’ in Mysore. The story is about horse racing and the betting that is prevalent in the sport.

The movie is being helmed by Arun Krishnaswamy, who had previously assisted Bhoopathy Pandian. According to the director, “Bharath is playing a betting fanatic, while Kathir an innocent youngster. What happens when their lives cross with each other is the crux.”

Radha Ravi has played a key role in the movie, which has background score by Sudharashan, who had scored music for ‘Burma’. “Post-production works are going on and plans are on to release the movie soon,” informs the director.

This apart, he  is busy with ‘Kadugu‘, a film directed by Vijay Milton of ‘Goli Soda’ and ’10 Enrathukulla’ fame. Interestingly, while Rajakumaran is the protagonist, Bharath is the villain of ‘Kadugu’. The story is about a Puli Vesham artiste who brings fame to his community despite attempts to disgrace it.

After testing his hands playing lead roles in unsuccessful ventures such as ‘Thenaliraman’ and ‘Eli’, Vadivelu is back to play comedian in Vishal-starrer ‘Kathi Sandai‘, directed by Suraaj.

In the meantime, he is also set to play the lead role in the sequel to ‘Imsai Arasan Irandam Pulikesi’, to be directed by Chimbudevan and produced jointly by drector Shankar and Lyca.

Says Vadivelu, “I will be on a two-way track from now on. I will play both lead roles and comedian characters. All that I look forward is to enthrall the audience, especially my fans.”

Happy about joining hands with Vishal after a long gap, he said, “our chemistry in ‘Thimiru’ was liked by many. Likewise, I share a good rapport with director Suraaj. We three are determined to bring the roofs down in ‘Kathi Sandai’.”
