2 point 0 movie shootingFrom 2 am till 6 am today, the shoot of Superstar Rajinikanth‘s ‘2.0’, directed by Shankar, happened at Forum Vijaya Mall at Vadapalani in Chennai.

“The news that Rajini would shoot at the mall was kept as closely guarded secret. Not even the security personnel of the shopping complex knew that ‘2.0’ would be shot there till the crew arrived late midnight,” sources said.

It is learnt that some ‘shopping scenes’ were shot at the mall and the crew packed up before it dawned. Only recently, the team of ‘2.0’ came back to Chennai after completing a lengthy schedule in New Delhi, it may be noted.

Amy Jackson is the heroine, while Akshay Kumar and Sudhanshu Pandey play the negative roles. Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman is scoring the music for the film produced by Lyca. The dialogues, cinematography, editing and art direction are handled by Jeyamohan, Nirav Shah, Anthony and T Muthuraj respectively.

arya stillsThe much talked about ‘comeback’ movie of Arya, which is being helmed by Raghavan of ‘Manja Pai’ fame, has been titled ‘Kadamban’. Earlier, it was said that the film was named ‘Thanikaattu Raja’. However now, the word is that ‘Kadamban‘ would be the title.

Arya is playing a youngster living in a forest area in this flick, which will have Catherine Tresa of ‘Madras’ and ‘Kanithan’ fame as the heroine. Shootings is on in interior jungles of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Talking about the project recently, Arya said, “Yes, I play a tribal and you can relate my character to Mowgli of ‘Jungle Book. Working for the movie is a great experience.”

After shooting for the first schedule of the film in the forest zones of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Arya was back in Chennai recently. “I am on a short break. I will go back to the sets very soon,” said the ‘Pattiyal’ and ‘Arrambam’ actor, who cast his vote at a booth at Anna Nagar in the city on Monday.

GV Prakash and AnandhiAfter ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’ and the upcoming venture ‘Enakku Innoru Per Irukku’, G V Prakash Kumar and Anandhi are coming together for the third time.

According to sources, the ‘Kayal’ girl has replaced Avika Gor in GVP’s new heroic venture ‘Kadavul Irukkan Kumaru’, directed by M Rajesh of ‘Oru Kal Oru Kannadi’ and ‘Boss Engira Baskaran’ fame.

According to sources, the director decided to replace Avika with Anandhi since he was not so happy with her performance. “Since Anandhi understands Tamil well and comic timing is needed for this script, she has been chosen for the task now,” sources added.

These apart, the music composer-turned-actor is busy with films such as ‘Bruce Lee’ and a yet untitled movie with Adhik Ravichandran of ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara’ fame. His last week release ‘Pencil’ has fetched him good reviews.

Kabali Rajini StillsKnown for throwing bombshells, Ram Gopal Varma is at it again. The popular Bollywood director has said slain sandalwood smuggler Veerappan had planned to kidnap Superstar Rajinikanth.

RGV, who is getting ready for the release of his biopic on Veerappan (which is scheduled to hit the screens on May 27), has made this claim during his recent interview.

Also, he has posted on his microblogging page: “Veerappan used to think he is more famous than Rajnikanth and at one point he demanded a film to be made on him as a part of his Ransom.”

It may be recalled that Veerappan had kidnapped veteran Kannada actor Rajkumar, who was released after efforts by the governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Rajini had played a crucial role then.

ilayaraja and kamal haasanMeastro Ilayaraja, who has joined hands with Kamal Haasan after a long time, has started composing songs for the film, titled ‘Sabash Naidu’.

If sources are to be believed, one song has already been recorded at Raja’s studio in Chennai and Ramya NSK and Bollywood composer Vishal Dhadlani have lent their voices for it.

“The song has come out very well and Kamal is extremely happy about it. He hugged Ilayaraja to express his excitement,” sources said, adding that the song would be canned in the United States.

Kamal, who was set to go to the US for ‘Sabash Naidu’ shoot last week itself, put on hold his trip by a week, to cast his vote in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Monday (May 16). He will pack his bags off to America in a few days, sources said.

anushka imagesClose on the heels of reports that Anushka would be the heroine of Ajith’s upcoming flick, here is another update about the actress  that she would be the lead lady in Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback movie.

The 150th flick of Chiranjeevi is a remake of Vijay-starrer Tamil blockbuster ‘Kaththi’, and it is said Anushka would play the role made memorable by Samantha in the original version.

Earlier, Nayanthara was tipped to be the heroine of the project, titled ‘Kathilantodu’. However now, it is being claimed that Anushka would be the chosen one and an official announcement would be made soon.

A R Murugadoss, who penned the script of ‘Kaththi’, has slightly tweaked the script for the Telugu audience. V V Vinayak would wield the megaphone for ‘Kathilantodu’, which will be produced by Chiranjeevi’s son Ramcharan.
