Following delay in the commencement of his Hollywood project, Dhanush has given bulk dates to director Karthik Subbaraj. The two, it is learnt, will come together for a stylish action thriller.
“This is a script which was running in the mind of Karthik Subbaraj for a long time. It is finally set to get shape. Most of the scenes will be shot abroad, especially the areas in and around New York,” sources said.
A leading actress will be roped in as heroine of the movie, shooting for which will commence in September this year. As in the past for Karthik Subbaraj films, Santhosh Narayanan will be the music composer.
While Dhanush is currently occupied with projects such as ‘Thodari’, ‘Ennai Nokki Payum Thotta’ and ‘Vada Chennai’, the ‘Pizza’ and ‘Jigarthanda’ maker is eagerly waiting for the release of his third venture ‘Iraivi’.
Vijay appears tonsured in his 60th flick

When comedian Sathish celebrated his birthday on the sets of Vijay‘s 60th movie on Monday, the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ attended it in tonsured look, dropping a clear hint on his get-up in the movie.
In fact, last week itself, the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ was seen with less hair when he came to a polling booth to cast his vote in Assembly elections. Now by appearing with the same look in the birthday pictures of Sathish, his look in the movie has been confirmed.
According to sources, as per the story, Vijay takes on education mafia in this film directed by Bharathan. “He speaks Tirunelveli dialect and underwent training to get his slang right,” they added.
Keerthi Suresh is the heroine of the flick, which is yet to be titled. This film presented by B Venkatrama Reddy and produced by B Bharathi Reddy both under the banner of Vijaya Productions. Cinematography is by M Sukumar.
Vijay Antony’s new look makes waves

The first look of Vijay Antony‘s upcoming film ‘Saithan‘ is out and it has been making waves in the social media. Meanwhile, the music composer-turned-actor is happy with the ‘success’ of the Telugu version of his recent Tamil hit ‘Pichaikaran’.
Released over the past weekend, ‘Bichagadu’ (title of the Telugu version) has begun to alter many earlier records, said a press release, which quoted Vijay Antony as saying: “I owe this success to my Director Sasi sir and my distributor Lakshman. His courage on releasing this film against a massive film, pinning hopes on the content has been the biggest plus factor.”
He said further: “I am indeed excited to be termed as a hero who can command commercial respect in two languages at the same time. I was told that it is a rare occasion for a Tamil hero to be accepted in this region of the country.”
With a proper script, execution and plan on the release I’m confident that all my future films will have a great visibility here in the Telugu film industry. This effort will enhance my commercial reputation as a star in south, he added.
At present, Vijay Antony is busy with films such as ‘Yeman’ and ‘Hitler’.
‘Senthoorapoovey’ director passes away

Veteran filmmaker P R Devaraj, who made movies like Vijayakanth’s blockbuster ‘Senthoorapoovey‘, died in Hyderabad this morning due to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Besides ‘Senthoorapoovey’, Devaraj had helmed a movie titled ‘layaragam’ in 1995 which had music composed by Ilayaraja. He was a resident of T Nagar in Chennai and was in Hyderabad for some time, it is learnt.
‘Senthoorapoovey’ hit the screens in 1988. It is a musical hit starring Vijayakanth, Ramki and Nirosha in lead roles. The film had musical score by Manoj – Gyan and was released on 23 September 1988.
The soundtrack, which too was released in 1988, featured eight songs with lyrics written by Aabavanan, Vairamuthu and Muthulingam. The film reportedly collected Rs 2.5 crore in the box-office, which was a huge amount then.
