Filmmaker Rajesh is synonymous for his comedy entertainer and had consistently delivered some commendable comedy entertainers that still remain to be excellent time pass flicks. The films like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Boss Engira Baskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. His fourth film All in All Azhagu Raja wasn’t a good hit, but this time he has tried all his best with a comeback effort in Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga. With this one turning to be Arya’s 25th film, the film is produced by his home banner of The Show People. As in all Rajesh movies, Santhanam appears as the other hero with Tamannaah and Bhanu playing the female lead character.
The film opens with Arya and Santhanam going for a fasting protest with the issue against girlfriends and wives who torture their husbands to give up their friendships. Arya and Santhanam have their own reasons to do this and they are revealed through flashbacks as it happens in all the movies of Rajesh.
To start off with, Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga is something that belongs to a complete entertainer genre. The film doesn’t need an analysis indeed and there isn’t anything much to delineate on this. It’s a clean entertainer that keeps audiences in fun and enjoyment though the pattern is same as Rajesh’s previous movies. The director’s previous movies like Boss Engira Baskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi had a similar paradigm of flashback as the major backdrop and the complete story is revealed in the flashback. One of the major highlights in this film is the time pass elements that are added as ingredients. The best scenes – if you are actually looking up, it cannot be mentioned as instances, but you will enjoy as you watch it. The film has a running length nearly more than 2 hours, but it never seems like the time has passed.
All the actors have done what is required for this roles and their performance is so genuine though nothing beyond appreciable to boast about. Musical score by Imman is okay and couple of songs like Lucka Maatikuchu and Subscriber is good.
On the minus aspect, there isn’t anything bigger to look up for the story and it reminds us of many instances from the previous movies of Rajesh.
Overall, Vasuvum Saravananum Onna Padichavanga is a middling entertainer that can be watched if you’re precisely looking up for something entertaining to kill your time.
Verdict: Entertaining and rib tickling in parts
