Trisha to haunt on June 10

Trisha‘s horror movie ‘Nayagi‘, which has been made simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, will hit the screens on June 10. According to sources, the actress is upbeat about the film and hopes it would sure strike a chord with the audience.

Interestingly, ‘Nayagi’ is the second eerie comedy of Trisha in the recent times, after Sundar C directed ‘Aranmanai 2’. But in this flick, the ‘Mankatha’ and ‘Ghillie’ girl plays the title role.

The film directed by Govardhan Reddy and produced by Trisha’s manager Giridhar has already generated a lot of interest, it may be noted.

After the first look posters of ‘Nayagi’ were released sometime back, ace director S S Rajamouli tweeted: “Naayagi..the contrast of trisha’s
smile and the knife in her hand and combined with the getup, is just
killing it.”

Ganesh Venkatraman, Jayaprakash, Brahmanandam, Manobala and Kovai Sarala play key roles in the film. It will be released by Sri Thenandal Films.

Suriya denies demanding money from Hindu organisation

Suriya has refuted reports in few sections of the media, which claimed that he had demanded huge sum of money to attend Hindu Youth Forum meet in Malaysia.

In a statement, he said, “The report was not true. I was not approached by any such association. Moreoever, I am an artiste and I would not attend events that support a particular community. I am common to all.”

Stating that he has been doing his best for the society in his own way, the actor, who had the release of ’24’ recently, added that rumours were being spread about him. “I request everyone to co-operate in my efforts and not malign my name in anyway,” he added.

Only recently, Agaram Foundation, a social service organisation run by Suriya, cleared the air on a buzz that it has offered its support to a particular political party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

“Few messages are getting circulated in social media on Agaram Foundation’s support for a specific party for 2016 Assembly elections. We would like to make our stand clear that we are neutral and not supporting any specific party towards election. Thanks,” said a statement from Agaram.

Sai Pallavi is a doctor now

Sai Pallavi, who won the hearts of Kerala youth in ‘Premam’, has completed medical degree in Tbilisi State Medical University, Georgia. It is learnt she is yet undecided about becoming a full time doctor or continue acting in movies.

Meanwhile during her holidays, she has completed shooting for two movies. Amid the buzz that Pallavi would make her debut in Kollywood soon, an official announcement is awaited yet.

Much recently, she was tipped to be the heroine of Mani Ratnam’s next film, which will have Karthi in the lead. However, it was later said she was replaced by Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari.

Sai Pallavi was born in Kotagiri and grew up in Coimbatore. A trained dancer, she participated in the dance reality show Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva on Vijay TV in 2008, and appeared on Dhee Ultimate Dance Show (D4) on ETV Telugu.

A few years later, she was studying medicine in Tbilisi, Georgia when Alphonse Putharen offered her the role of Malar in his upcoming film ‘Premam’. After the shooting was completed, she went back to her studies.

Kollywood’s hits and misses in polls

While Karunas and Vaagai Chandrasekar emerged winners in the Assembly polls, other popular film personalities such as Vijayakanth, Sarathkumar, C R Saraswathi and Raja Krishnamoorthy (Kitty) faced defeat in the elections.

This is the second victory within a year for Karunas. Only in October last, he was elected as the vice-president of Nadigar Sangam (South India Artistes Association) in a tough battle.

And in the just-concluded Assembly elections, he has been elected as legislator by the people of Thiruvadanai constituency. He was given the seat by chief minister and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa just a few weeks before the polls.

Sarathkumar lost the polls in Tiruchendur seat, and Vijayakanth, the president of DMDK and the chief ministerial candidate of DMDK-PWF-TMC alliance, was defeated in Ulundurpet.

C R Saraswathi who contested on an AIADMK seat lost to the DMK at Pallavaram in Chennai, while Chandrasekar defeated Kitty in Velachery constituency in the city.

Santhanam says no to Ajith

It seems Santhanam is in no mood to play comedian roles henceforth and has expressed this to director Siruthai Siva, when the latter approached him to be part of his next film with Ajith.

“Following this, Siva is on the lookout for another actor and he already has a couple of names in his mind. He will finalise all members of the cast and crew soon and will go for shoot in June,” sources said.

Anushka Shetty and Ritika Singh (of ‘Irudhu Suttru’ fame) are the lead ladies of the movie, tipped to be a stylish action thriller to be predominantly shot in abroad locations.

Sathyajothi Films will bankroll this yet untitled movie, which will have music by Anirudh. It is to be noted that the combination of Ajith, Siva and Anirudh presented the blockbuster ‘Vedalam’ late last year.
