Karthi undergoes crash course

As the countdown for the shoot of Mani Ratnam‘s movie has started, Karthi, its protagonist, is undergoing a training session to equip himself for the role.

“Since Karthi is playing the role of a pilot, he is currently doing a crash course at a flight school to acquire the body language and other skills of pilots,” sources said.

Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari will play the female lead in the yet-to-be-named flick, which will have music by Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman and lyrics by veteran Vairamuthu.

Ravi Varman is in-charge of cinematography. Recently, Mani and Varman were on a tour to some hill stations to zero in on locations for the movie, tipped to be a romantic thriller.

Ilayaraja to score music for English flick

Maestro Ilayaraja will compose music for an English film titled ‘Love & Love Only’. Written and directed by Julian Karikalan, the movie is about cross-culture perspective and how love overcomes all that.

Besides penning the script and wielding the megaphone, Karikalan is also taking care of lyrics, editing and production departments as well.

Rohit Kalia and Georgia Nicolas play the lead roles, while others in the cast include Ambika Asthana, Shekhar Mehta, Sashi Dandekar, Suparna Mallick, Robert Osborne, Benjamin Cork, Juliana Peniazeva, Vikas Sehgal and Laurance Nath.

According to the director, the story is about an Indian guy who falls in love with an Australian girl. “Raja sir’s music is one of the biggest highlights of the movie,” he says.

‘Thodari’ songs from May 8

The combination of director Prabhu Solomon and music composer D Imman has always created a magic, with films like ‘Mynaa’, ‘Kumki’ and ‘Kayal’ standing testimony to the claim.

Now, the audio of their new venture, Dhanush starrer ‘Thodari’, will be unveiled on May 8. “Imman has once again come out with magical melodies and the songs in ‘Thodari’ will be talked about,” sources said.

Keerthi Suresh plays the heroine of the movie, which has music by D Imman. While Dhanush plays a pantry worker in the train between New Delhi and Chennai, Keerthi plays the touch-up girl of a popular actress.

Recently, Dhanush has completed dubbing for his portions in ‘Thodari‘ in just one day. “Finished dubbing for thodari. Very very very excited about the way the film has shaped up. Can’t wait for you guys to watch it”, he stated.

Kamal lauds Vishal in Minister’s presence

Kamal Haasan was all praise for Nadigar Sangam general secretary Vishal, at the May Day celebrations of Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) in Chennai recently.

Speaking at the event, which was attended by Union Minister of Labour Welfare and Employment, Bandaru Dattareya, Kamal said, “Vishal is a hero; he executed things which should have been ideally done by us.”
The ‘Ulaga Nayagan’ added: “We were apprehensive thinking that our shirts would get dirty but they understood that there won’t be any shirts to wear and taken things under control.”

In his request to the Minister, Kamal said the government should set up a new office in Chennai to register intellectual property rights as people in the south has to go all the way to New Delhi for registration.

Story of ‘Theri 2’ revealed

Even as ‘Theri’ running successfully in theatres, we hear that a sequel to the movie is in cards and director Atlee has already completed penning the script, narrated it to Vijay, and got his nod.

According to sources, the second part would revolve much around the relationship between Vijay and his daughter. “Attempts are being made to rope in Vijay’s real life daughter Divya Saasha for the role,” sources said.

They added: “In ‘Theri 2’, Vijay will appear as undercover cop who eliminates evil elements from the society. Amy Jackson will be having a key role and another heorine will also be there.”

Prabhu and Rajendran are expected to be part of ‘Theri 2‘ too. In all likelihood, the movie would be produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu’s V Creations, which bankrolled ‘Theri’ as well. An official annoucement is expected to be made soon.
