Another biggie is seems to be in the repertoire of Shruti Haasan, as she is all set for an international music collaboration to sing and co-write tracks with the Brit Alt Rock band Dinosaur Pile-Up for an album.

She is believed to have recently collaborated with a British alternative rock band called Dinosaur Pile-Up to sing in and co-write with for a brand new album together.

“Shruti has made a couple of visits to London and has been meeting and jamming with the English Alt Rock band Dinosaur Pile-Up with the band members – lead singer and guitarist Matt Bigland, drummer Mike Sheils and bassist Jim Cratchley. When she spent time with them, she enjoyed the vibe of their music and felt it was in line with her own musical inclination. More importantly, being someone who’s always written her own songs right from when she had her former band – Shruti and the Extramentals, she has also co-written the lyrics for tracks that she’s working on with Dinosaur Pile-Up. Music has been a very deeply rooted facet of her being and unlike most singers, who are just singers, she’s a complete musician – someone who writes, composes and sings her own songs,” said a statement.

While she has a flourishing acting career, she wants to ensure she dedicates a sizable chunk of her time this year to her music.

She has been working crazy schedules shooting for two south films, pre-production for her tr-lingual film with her father Kamal Haasan – ‘Sabash Naidu’, her patch work for her Bollywood flick ‘Yaara’ directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, her own production assignments under Isidro Media and of course her multiple brand endorsements and magazine cover shoots.
Despite all those commitments, she has ensured she makes time for her music whilst honoring all her existing commitments.

Sivakarthikeyan’s secret to be revealed

Ever since he started working on ‘Remo’, Sivakarthikeyan’s look(s) in the movie has been kept as closely guarded secret. Though there was a buzz that he will be seen in a never before get-up in the flick, those connected to the project remained tightlipped.

And now, it has been announced that the first look teaser of the flick will be unveiled on June 9. An announcement has been made in this regard by the production house, 24AM Studios, through a colourful image.

In the movie directed by debutant Bhagyaraj Kannan, Siva will be sporting multiple looks designed by Hollywood artiste Sean Foot of ‘I’ fame.

“The last schedule of the shoot is going on now, and if everything goes well, it will get over by the middle of June. After that, the post production works will go on for a month and the film will hit the screens by August or September,” sources said recently.

While Keerthi Suresh plays the heroine, the film has cinematography by P C Sreeram and music by Anirudh. Director K S Ravikumar has played an interesting and important cameo, it is learnt.

‘Baahubali’ goes to Cannes

In yet another honour, the team behind ‘Baahubali The Beginning’ will lead a panel discussion on virtual reality titled ‘Increasing the Intensity and Scale of Epic Film Experiences through VR’ at Cannes Film Festival 2016.

The panel, which will be moderated by Patrick Frater, Asia Bureau Chief, Variety, will take place the Marché du Film, on May 16. Director of the film, S S Rajamouli, producer Shobu Yarlagadda, along with Raja Koduri, senior vice president of Radeon Technology Group (RTG), AMD, will attend.

“The panel will discuss new opportunities that a storyteller has today through VR, to create experiences with unprecedented scale and immersiveness, the need for new technology and powerful Graphics Processors (GPU’s) to build these experiences, challenges in VR production, and new ways to distribute these experiences to reach a mass audience,” said a media statement.

The interactive panel will be streamed live via the official Facebook pages of Baahubali and AMD. Subsequent to the discussion, ‘Baahubali The Beginning’ will be screened at Palais K, at the Marché Du Film venue in Cannes at 8:30 pm.

Vijay not to support anyone in elections

Even as reports doing rounds that Vijay fans have been instructed to work in support of a particular party ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the actor’s fans organisation has issued a statement, clearing the air on the issue.

In the statement, in-charge of Vijay Fan Club N Anand has said thalapathy has decided to remain neutral this time. He however said his fans are free to vote for anyone they prefer. At the same time, his  fans should not extend their support either directly or indirectly to any party.

“They cannot use the organisation’s flag or thalapathi name. I have been communicating this to district level office-bearers in person, over phone and through social media. Disciplinary action will be taken against violators,” he said.

Stating that rumors spreading around Vijay Makkal Iyakkam‘s decision to support a particular political party are completely untrue, he reiterated that the ‘Ilaya Thalapathi’ has decided to go neutral.

Suriya’s 24 sets a new record in 4 days

This is the fourth day since the release of 24 and all these four days were grand for Suriya fans as the film has won great acclaim from film lovers as well as critics. The acclaim has been sealed through its box office records.

The film has collected Rs. 73.8 Cr in just three days after its release. In terms of its weekend collection, the Suriya starrer has become the second largest successful movie after Rajamouli’s Bahubali.

The Vikram directed movie has shined nicely in US too, with its first weekend collection attaining $1 million, surpassing Vijay’s “Theri”record. Cine Galaxy which has acquired the distribution rights of the film, released it in over 270 theatres in North America.

This is Surya’s first film and Vikram’s second to surpass $1 million in the first weekend in the US/ Canada market.

All together, the domestic maket has served a total of Rs.55 Cr and the international market Rs.17.93 Cr. towards the gross revenue.Surya, director Vikram and the makers of the film are on a high note after its superb collection at the box office. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual has gathered good comments from critics as well.
