Vijayalakshmi is not the only heroine in the sequel to ‘Chennai 600028’. For, another actress, Anjena Kirti, has been brought on board by director Venkat Prabhu.

According to sources, Anjena will be seen opposite Vijay Vasanth, one of the lead actors of the movie. “Though most parts of the movie are being shot in southern Tamil Nadu, Anjena will be seen as a Chennai girl,” sources added.

Most members of the cast and crew of ‘Chennai 600028’ are part of the sequel as well. Produced by Black Ticket Company, the movie will have an ensemble cast of Jai, Shiva, Premgi Amaren, Aravind Akash, Nithin Satya, Varalakshmi and Vaibhav.

With his last two outings (‘Biriyani’ with Karthi and ‘Maasu Engira Maasilamani’ with Suriya) failing to do well in the box-office, Venkat Prabhu is keen to strike it big with the sequel to ‘Chennai 600028’.

‘Kabali’ fever has gripped everyone in these parts and the Election Commission of India is no exception. The EC, which has already come out with many awareness messages based on Rajinikanth dialogues, has used the ‘Magizhchi‘ phrase from ‘Kabali’ teaser in its latest material.

“MAGIZHCHI” screams the new poster in bold letters, featuring a picture of ‘Kabali‘ Rajini. It also says: “Kaasu vaangama vaakalithaal magizhchi. Poduvom vottu, vaanga maatom nottu“.

Recently, the Election Commission urged Rajini to appear in its awareness video, it may be recalled. “We will be glad if he agrees to our request as that would add immense popularity to our efforts,” said Rajesh Lakhoni, chief electoral officer.

Comedy Actress Vidyulekha Raman, who is currently in Vienna, has lost her passport, cards and currency. She has given a ‘SOS call’ to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

“@SushmaSwaraj My bag has been stolen with passport, cards & currency in my hotel lobby. Need to contact the Indian embassy asap in Vienna,” the ‘Veeram’ and ‘Neethane En Ponvasantham’ actress tweeted.

On how her bag was stolen, she said: “So I was not allowed to see the CCTV footage in the 5 star hotel but the Austrian police saw it.. A man has entered distracted me for a sec. He asked me how to get to an address and by the time I said I don’t know..His friend came from behind & took it. Shocked. Hope embassy helps.”

Devastating to have had a fab trip with friends and it ends on a sour note with all money, passport and valuables lost. Fate I guess, Vidyulekha added.

For the first time in her more than a decade old career, Nayanthara is currently shooting in Kashmir for Vikram-starrer ‘Irumugan’.

According to sources, after getting permission in some sensitive areas in Kashmir, songs and stunt scenes for the movie are being shot. “Nayanthara is excited about visiting Kashmir,” sources said.

The team recently shot some crucial scenes in Malaysia. Later, grand sets were erected at studios in Chennai where stunt scenes involving Vikram were shot. It is learnt Vikram is playing a dual role and Nithya Menen is the other heroine.

Harris Jayaraj is scoring music for the movie, produced by Shibu Thameens and directed by Anand Shankar of ‘Arima Nambi’ fame. Shobi is choreographing dance for song sequences.

As the countdown for the shoot of Mani Ratnam‘s movie has started, Karthi, its protagonist, is undergoing a training session to equip himself for the role.

“Since Karthi is playing the role of a pilot, he is currently doing a crash course at a flight school to acquire the body language and other skills of pilots,” sources said.

Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari will play the female lead in the yet-to-be-named flick, which will have music by Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman and lyrics by veteran Vairamuthu.

Ravi Varman is in-charge of cinematography. Recently, Mani and Varman were on a tour to some hill stations to zero in on locations for the movie, tipped to be a romantic thriller.

Maestro Ilayaraja will compose music for an English film titled ‘Love & Love Only’. Written and directed by Julian Karikalan, the movie is about cross-culture perspective and how love overcomes all that.

Besides penning the script and wielding the megaphone, Karikalan is also taking care of lyrics, editing and production departments as well.

Rohit Kalia and Georgia Nicolas play the lead roles, while others in the cast include Ambika Asthana, Shekhar Mehta, Sashi Dandekar, Suparna Mallick, Robert Osborne, Benjamin Cork, Juliana Peniazeva, Vikas Sehgal and Laurance Nath.

According to the director, the story is about an Indian guy who falls in love with an Australian girl. “Raja sir’s music is one of the biggest highlights of the movie,” he says.
