When will 'Vada Chennai' start?After taking much time for pre-production, director Vetrimaaran’s ambitious project ‘Vada Chennai’, starring Dhanush in the lead, will start rolling from June 15.

“The entire shoot will take place in Chennai and the film will be made in two parts. Samantha and Andrea Jeremiah will be integral part of the cast. Samantha will play a slum girl living in north Chennai,” sources said.

To be produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films and Lyca, the film will have music by Santhosh Narayanan. There is a crucial role which is almost equivalent to Dhanush and the buzz is that either Jiiva or Vijay Sethupathi will do it.

Besides ‘Vada Chennai’, Dhanush is busy with Gautham Vasudev Menon directed ‘Yennai Nokki Paayum Thotta’, a Hindi flick and a Hollywood film. His ‘Thodari’ directed by Prabhu Solomon will hit the screens soon.

Karthi's 'Kashmora' updateShooting of Karthi’s upcoming film ‘Kashmora’ directed by Gokul of ‘Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara‘ fame, will be wrapped by the first week of June.

“After this, Karthi will join ace director Mani Ratnam’s directorial venture and he will simultaneously dub for ‘Kashmora’ (produced by Dream Warrior Pictures) too,” said a press statement.

It added: After completing Mani Ratnam’s movie, the actor will join ‘Sathuranga Vettai‘ fame director Vinoth’s project produced by Dream Warrior Pictures.

Despite a packed shooting schedule, Karthi is giving his best efforts as the treasurer of Nadigar Sangam. “He is too busy as a lot of transactions are being made in connection with the construction of a new building for the association,” sources said.

S J Suryah picks ShrutiShruti Haasan‘s first big hit in the neighbouring Tollywood was Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Gabbar Singh’. Once again, the actress will share the screen space with the ‘Power Star’, this time for a film to be helmed by S J Suryah.

The Pawan-Suryah flick hit the floors recently and the regular shoot is expected to commence soon. “Shruti is almost decided as the main heroine and she will sign on the dotted line in a few days,” sources said.

At present, the actress-singer-music composer is in the United States, shooting for ‘Sabaash Naidu‘, a comedy thriller in which she will be seen with her legendary father, Kamal Haasan.

Also, she is all set for an international music collaboration to sing and co-write tracks with the Brit Alt Rock band Dinosaur Pile-Up for an album.

She is believed to have recently collaborated with a British alternative rock band called Dinosaur Pile-Up to sing in and co-write with for a brand new album together.

Why Mani Ratnam Delaying Shoot?Though the script and the entire team have been finalised for ace director Mani Ratnam’s next flick, the shoot is yet to start, giving raise to many an eyebrow.

When we probed, we came to know that the director is waiting for the summer to end. “There are plenty of outdoor scenes under the sun. So the shoot will commence by the end of June or by the beginning of July,” sources said.

Karthi, who once assisted Mani Ratnam, is the protagonist of the movie, and he was recently undergoing a training session to equip himself for the role.

“Since Karthi is playing the role of a pilot, he did a crash course at a flight school to acquire the body language and other skills of pilots,” sources said.

Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari will play the female lead in the yet-to-be-named flick, which will have music by Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman and lyrics by veteran Vairamuthu.

Nalan Kumarasamy is an actor nowFilmmaker Nalan Kumarasamy, the brain behind ‘Soodhu Kavvum‘ and the much recent ‘Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum‘, is now an actor. He will be seen playing a cameo role in a film starring Sibiraj in the lead.

The movie, which is yet to be titled, is tipped to be a comedy caper. According to sources, Nalan is playing a fish doctor and his character will bring the roofs down.

“Nalan is not just a good director, but a talented actor too. He will prove it with this flick,” they added. Besides Sibi and Nalan, the movie has Aishwarya Rajesh, Kaali Venkat, Mime Gopi, Yogi Babu and Livingston in key roles.

Wind Chimes Media Entertainments is producing the movie, directed by debutant Mani Seiyon, former associate of Arivazhagan. Music is by Samir Santhosh of ‘Inimey Ippadithaan’ and cinematography by Anand Jeeva.
