Uncertainty prevails over the possibility of Suriya and Jyothika casting their votes in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on May 16, as the star couple is on a vacation trip to the United States.

While some say they will be back to Chennai before the polling day, others say that they will return to the city only after the elections. It is to be noted that Suriya has never missed an opportunity to vote in the past.

Along with his father Suriya, brother Karthi and other family members, he would do the ‘democratic duty’ at a polling booth at T Nagar area in Chennai.

Recently, Suriya, along with Jyothika, Daughter Diya and son Dev, left for the US. Besides visiting varioius places there, he also attended the premiere of his latest film ’24’ last week. On his return, he will complete ‘S3’ before venturing to new projects.

Popular Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who is acting with Rajinikanth in ‘2.0’, has expressed his interest to watch the Superstar’s immediate release ‘Kabali‘ on the first day itself, that too the very first show.

The FDFS (first day first show) of Rajini films is known for heightened celebrations across Tamil Nadu and fans, who would be gripped by Rajini mania, would perform milk abishekam, show arathi and hail slogans in support of their ‘thalaivar’.

“Akshay wants to catch the celebrations live, and hence, he will be watching the film in an early morning show at a theatre in Chennai,” sources said, adding that he has become a huge fan of Rajinikanth lately.

“Akshay was bowled over by the simplicty of the Superstar on the sets of ‘2.0’. Also, the record breaking views generated by ‘Kabali’ teaser stunned him. So he is so keen to watch the film in Chennai on the first day,” sources added.

That Arun Vijay is playing a police officer in his next movie is known to many. The latest update is that, the film, directed by Arivazhagan of ‘Eeram’ and ‘Vallinam’ fame, has been titled ‘Kuttram 23’.

And we have more updates too. It is reliably learnt that the story of the film was an adaptation of a popular crime thriller novel written by veteran writer Rajesh Kumar and Arivazhagan has already completed about 60 per cent of shoot.

‘Kuttram 23‘ happens to be the maiden production venture of Arun Vijay. His banner has been named ICE – In Cinemas Entertainment. Vishal Chandrasekhar is scoring the music.

Recently, Arun Vijay shot for 36 hours without any break. Besides the ‘Malai Malai’ and ‘Maanja Velu’ actor, other members of the team too worked hard to capture the scene without any compromise.

Talking about it, Arun Vijay had said, “In fact we were geared up for much long duration, but thanks to the precise planning and subsequent deliveries from all sections of our unit we were able to pull off this magic within 36 hours.”

Even as the first look stills of Vijay Sethupathi‘s ‘Rekka’ are making waves, Kabir Duhan Singh, who crossed swords with Ajith in ‘Vedalam’ and is set to play the villain in ‘Rekka’, is all praise for the ‘Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum’ star.

“I came to know many positive things about Vijay Sethupathi. I heard that he is a great person to work with and he is a honest and humble human being. He is brilliant workwise too,” he says.

The film is hitting the floors today and Kabir says director Rathnasiva has offered him an interesting role. The story, according to sources, is about a man who travels to a lot of places.

Touted to be an action entertainer with ample doses of romance, the film will be produced by B Ganesh of ‘Orange Mittai’ fame. Music for ‘Rekka’ is by D Imman and cinematography is by Dinesh Krishnan.

Badava Gopi’s homework for Dhanush

He may be a television anchor in real life. But for the first time, Badava Gopi is playing a TV journalist in Dhanush-starrer ‘Thodari’, helmed by Prabhu Solomon. And he says he has done a lot of homework for the role.

“I observed many TV reporters from close quarters and studied their body language. Though the role appears to be serious, there are enough comedy moments too,” he says.

The audio of ‘Thodari’, composed by D Imman, will be unveiled soon. “Imman has once again come out with magical melodies and the songs in ‘Thodari’ will be talked about,” sources said.

Keerthi Suresh plays the heroine of the movie. While Dhanush plays a pantry worker in the train between New Delhi and Chennai, Keerthi plays the touch-up girl of a popular actress. Recently, Dhanush has completed dubbing for his portions in ‘Thodari’ in just one day.
