Vikram-starrer ‘Irumugan’, helmed by Anand Shankar of ‘Arimanambi’ fame, is being loaded with some adrenaline-pumping stunt scenes and one of them will have the ‘Chiyaan’ fighting inside a moving helicopter.

“The scene will be shot in Bangkok with the help of international stunt masters. It will be on par with Hollywood movies,” sources said, adding that the team will leave for Bangkok soon.

Before that, the cast and crew of ‘Iru Mugan’ will can some important sequences at a grand set erected at Old Mahabalipuram Road on the outskirts of Chennai. “Playground of a college is being used for the purpose,” sources added.

Produced by Shibu Thameens of ‘Puli’ fame, the film has Nayanthara and Nithya Menen as heroines. Music is being composed by Harris Jayaraj. Recently, a song and few scenes were shot in Kashmir, it may be recalled.

Japan honour for A R Rahman

Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman has brought another laurel to the country. He has been selected for the prestigious Fukuoka Prize of Japan.

Established by Fukuoka City, Japan, in 1990, it as an award presented annually to honour the outstanding work of individuals, groups and organisations to preserve and promote the unique and diverse cultures of Asia.

The prize aims to foster and increase awareness of the value of Asian cultures, and to institute a broad framework for exchange and mutual learning among the people of Asia.

This year marks the 27th anniversary of the inception of the Fukuoka Prize. “Over the last 26 years, we have had the privilege of presenting the Prize to 102 leading figures in their respective fields,” office-bearers of the committee said.

The prize will be given to Rahman at a grand function on September 16, 2016 at Fukuoka Symphony Hall, ACROS Fukuoka 1F. Besides receiving the prize, the ‘Mozart of Madras’ will also deliver a lecture.

Vendhar Movies’ Madhan vanishes

After leaving a five-page shocking statement, in which he has said that he was going to Kasi to attain his ‘Samadhi’, S Madhan of Vendhar Movies has gone out of reach of his family, friends and colleagues.

In the letter addressed to his family, Paarivendhar (T R Pachamuthu, founder of SRM Group) and friends, Madhan said that he did a lot to make SRM Group number one in education and other fields.

He however said he was pained by the recent developments and ‘Vendhar’ has been ignoring them. “He is not picking my calls,” Madhan said, adding that family members of Pachamuthu were working against him.

He further said that those who have given him money for admission at SRM Group of Institutions can get it back from the management. He also requested Lawrence Raghavendra to sort out issues, if any, during the release of their upcoming film ‘Motta Siva Ketta Siva’.

“If a person dies in Kasi, there is no re-birth for him. I don’t want re-birth. That’s why I have taken this decision,” he said.

Priyamani gets engaged, wedding soon

Without even inviting her close friends in the industry, Priyamani got engaged to her longtime boyfriend and businessman Mustafa Raj at a private function at her residence in Bengaluru on Friday.

Announcing the good news to all on her Twitter page on Sunday, the national award winning actress posted: “Happy to announce that Mustufa Raj and I got engaged on Friday the 27th at a close and private function at home!”
