Even as the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was heading towards victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, various associations of Tamil film industry congratulated chief minister and AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa.
A statement by Tamil Film Producers Council expressed happiness over her party’s win in the polls and covneyed its heartfelt wishes to her. Similar statements have been issued by Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) and South Indian Artistes Association (Nadigar Sangam).
Various popular personalities of the industry too have greeted Jayalalithaa and wished her. The list includes Sivakumar, Karthi, Prabhu, Ramarajan, Vindhya, Senthil etc. According to Vindhya, “Amma’s victory has proved that people have immense confidence on her.”
It is to be noted that Jayalalithaa was once a top heroine of Kollywood. She was groomed in politics by her mentor and former chief minister M G Ramachandran, who was a matinee idol of Tamil cinema. Interestingly, Tamil Nadu is being ruled by film personalities for the past four decades and more.
