pvp cinemaFrom Tollywood, PVP Cinema made inroads into Kollywood and bankrolled films such as ‘Naane Ee‘, ‘Bangalore Naatkal‘, ‘Inji Iduppazhagi‘ and ‘Thozha‘ etc.

Today, the production house came out with a statement, denying reports that it would quit Tamil cinema. “There were rumours pertaining to PVP Cinema in some section of the media that we are contemplating to call it quits in the Tamil film industry,” it said.

“We are aware of the fact that it is a day dream of certain vested interests. We are a seasoned production house and we are fully aware of the low and high tides in the industry,” it said further.

Stating that an occasional drawback can never spell doom to an established firm like ours, it added: “We have a very important line of films including one much expected Hero-Director combination that would possibly be the biggest of our times. May we request your good self to ignore the dirty rumour on our company’s closure and extend your valuable support as always.”

ajith stillsFriday saw certain confusions in connection with Ajith‘s 57th movie. The production company Sathyajothi Films, which initially announced revealing the social media handles of the flick on the day, postponed it to a later date and apologised to ‘thala’ fans.

Likewise, music composer Anirudh, who initially wrote on his social networking page that he was happy to work with Ajith and director Siruthai Siva once again (after ‘Vedalam’), came up with a correction soon. This time, he posted the name of Ajith alone.

These things have led to speculations that director Siva would be replaced with A R Murugadoss. Only recently, the wallpaper of the Twitter page of Murugadoss caused flutter in the industry and among fans, as it featured an eye, which was said to be that of Ajith.

It may be recalled that Murugadoss made his debut in Kollywood with Ajith-starrer ‘Dheena’ in the early 2000s. From then on, there is no looking back for the director, who is now sought after in Bollywood too.

radha ravi photosVeteran actor Radha Ravi was angered at the way he was (not) introduced at the curtain raiser event of Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Iraivi’ in Chennai recently.

For, the female anchor who was compering the event left the name of Radha Ravi and only mentioned the names of lead actors.

Irked at this, Radha Ravi took the mike and said, “I have been hearing a lot of praise for my roles in recent films, yet this girl introduces only the lead heroes and heroines and says rest of the cast which includes me.”

He added: “This girl doesn’t know Radha Ravi. What can I do when such people are being brought and made to talk. I’m not saying this anger. I have always been saying this to the girls who compere.”

Starring Vijay Sethupathi, Anjali, Bobby Simha, S J Surhay and Kamalini Mukherjee in lead roles, ‘Iraivi’, which is slated to hit the screens next week, has music by Santhosh Narayanan.
